Generate camp 2017
This Changes Everything.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.
2 Corinthians 5:17
We had an amazing time at camp this year! Every year camp is a special time, not only in the lives of students but in our lives as well. Our camp theme was "This changes everything" and our verse was 2 Corinthians 5:17. Our camp speaker was Drew Worsham who is also an illusionist. He uses his illusions as object lessons to introduce us to the passage we would be currently studying. Our students (and adults) were engage and mesmerized! Such a great way to open the service up and grab attention. The first night Drew preached on the passage Colossians 1:15-20 which teaches about the Centrality of God. He started by saying "How you respond to Jesus, who you believe He is, changes everything." Drew talked to us about how to make Christ the center of who we are and about God being the invisible God, a sustainer, and the redeemer. Everyday Drew challenged us and pushed us to answer tough questions about our faith. The rest of the week followed this path. We continued to learn about the centrality of Christ and how to be functioning members of the body of Christ. One lesson that particularly stood out to me was the act of bearing one another burdens. Our students were challenged to consciously encourage one another and hold one another accountable. We also had the opportunity to meet Drew and talk to him!
We were led in worship by Jared Wood and his band. They were skilled at leading us to a worship mindset. We actually got to meet with the band one night when they came to our church group time. The kids were able to ask them questions and hear the heart of the band.
I love camp. Its so important to refresh and challenge our students to live Godly lives. If you are interested in attending next year please send us a short message! I hope you are all having a great summer.
